What the Ninja checked
Safe to use, if you have Claude Code- ✓MIT license: free to use, even commercially
- ✓4.6K stars and 1.4K forks on GitHub
- ✓Plain code: 6 small Python scripts, standard library only, no internet, no passwords (the Ninja read each one)
- ✓It never publishes or logs into your channel: it writes, you upload
- !Not maintained: published Sep 16, 2026 and never updated; 13 fixes from other people are still waiting
- !Word counts only see a to z: accented and non-Latin words are miscounted (the Ninja checked the code)
- !Needs Claude Code and a terminal; the silence cutter also needs Whisper, and the trend finder needs yt-dlp

Get Claude Code
The original is built for Claude Code, which runs in your terminal, and it also needs Git and Python 3. Without Claude Code, the author says you can paste a single SKILL.md at the top of a chat, but you lose the scoring tools.
Copy the skills
In your terminal, from any folder:
Terminalgit clone https://github.com/Jakeschincariol/youtube-agent-skill.git cp -r youtube-agent-skill/skills/yt-* ~/.claude/skills/
Describe your voice, then ask
The author asks for ten minutes on a file about how you talk. Copy the template:
Terminalmkdir -p ~/.claude/youtube cp youtube-agent-skill/templates/voice.md ~/.claude/youtube/voice.md
Open
~/.claude/youtube/voice.md, fill it in, then in Claude Code ask for/yt-script(script),/yt-package(title and thumbnail),/yt-shorts(Shorts) or/yt-retention(retention).
The safe way to use it
- It only writes. None of the 11 skills publishes or logs into your channel. If anything asks for your Google password, stop.
- Install from the right address: github.com/Jakeschincariol/youtube-agent-skill. There are over 1,400 forks out there, and a copy may have been changed.
- Rules change. Music, Shorts and monetization rules move often; check YouTube Studio.
- A score is not a promise. The hook and title scores help you pick; your viewers decide how the video does.
